Patrice

Picture
Patrice Egleston seems to play a lot of "ladies" these days.  Lady Pembroke in Chicago Shakespeare Theater's 2011 Jeff-awarded "Madness of George III", Lady Macbeth in First Folio's rockin' "Macbeth", Lady Croom in Remy Bumppo Theatre's moving "Arcadia".... the list could go on.  OR she seems to be playing a lot of "mothers" these days: Juliet's mother (Lady Capulet) in First Folio's 2011 Jeff-nominated "Romeo and Juliet", Hamlet's VERY young mother (Gertrude) in Shakespeare in the Park/Ft. Worth, the dying Reverend Mother Celine in Lifeline Theatre's "Mariette in Ecstasy"...the list is growing.  What happened to the days when Patrice was playing simple-minded bimbos and breathless vanities - oh wait, that was in Theatre Mir's crazy webseries "BANG,bang,Shoot!" But really, people, when is she going to play a drunk?  Patrice did understudy the fabulous Amy Morton as Barbara Fordham in Steppenwolf's "August: Osage County" in 2007.  That was as close as it got.  Let’s face it, "ladies" don't get to be ladies because they are retiring, they become ladies because they have guts!
