A wild storm tears through a quiet East Anglian seaside town, causing the drowning of a young villager and washing a stranger ashore. While the stranger claims to be a close friend of the drowned man, the villager draper, Hatch, fears that all it not as it seems. Convinced that the stranger is an invader from outer space, Hatch attempts to turn the village against him.  In the midst of what quickly becomes a battle of wills between Hatch and the town’s grande dame – who has taken the stranger under her wing – the fiancée of the drowned man begins to fall in love with the stranger.

Loosely based on Shakespeare's The Tempest, The Sea portrays a society gripped by fear- of change, of the unknown, and of other people- and explores how these fears can grow to both comic and tragic ends.

Directed by Jonathan Berry, this witty play will come to life at Theater Wit from March 23- April 15, 2012. Performances will be Thursday-Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sundays at 3:30pm. Previews will take place on March 17, 18, 21, and 22 at 7:30pm.

In a world where men have been taught that they have the power of life and death over women, Slither explores the relationship of women and snakes.  In this intricately woven play, we follow three women- Eve after she was cast from the Garden of Eden, a 1930's snake dancer, and a present day Holiness Church snake handler- as they struggle to find the strength to survive.  This dark, but ultimately uplifting, play causes us to more closely examine our understanding of the story of Adam and Eve, and perhaps to revisit our feelings towards snakes.

Directed by Artistic Director Rachel Slavick, Theatre Mir's production will bring this darkly thrilling play to life using puppetry, film projection, and live musical scoring at Theater Wit from July 16- August 5, 2012.
